More Great bands and Artists... Scorpions knows how to ROCK. They also know how to play the very best power ballads. This is European metal at it's best, sometimes it' savage and full of animal lust or sometimes it's tender, beautiful and occasionally thought provoking.
Scorpions
Collective Soul Collective Soul specializes in well constructed songs with catchy hooks and excellent lyricism. They successfully navigate the middle ground between hard and heavy and slow and mellow. Surprisingly enough, they are an alternative band which knows how to write upbeat songs although pain and confusion are also favorite topics. Check them out if you get a chance.
Styx As a sophomore in college I rediscovered this truly amazing band from the 70's. Styx sets themselves apart by being a band that embraces the ideals of optimism. They are also well aware that rock 'n roll is show business and as such their live shows are not to be missed. (I've seen them twice.) Their Grand Illusion Reunion tour at the Portland Rose Garden is probably the best rock show I've ever seen and considering that I've seen everything from Garth Brooks to Marilyn Manson that's quite a compliment.Did I mention Marylin Manson?
