My Heart Doesn’t Give Up that Easily

My mind tells me to move along,

Not to wait for love that’s strong.

“Get it where you can,” I say,

“Opportunists have the better way.”

Don’t pursue a love that turns away.

It will only break your heart,

When in the end she walks away

Then only pain will be your part.

But my heart as foolish as it is,

Refuses reasoning such as this.

It will not let my soul be free,

Until I get this love I see.

So though my mind is telling me

To let this dream go free.

I will not give up on love,

Because my heart doesn’t give up that easily.
